PROMINENT PERSONALITIES ON LORENZ MAIERHOFER’S WORK:

LORENZ MAIERHOFER’S CHORAL SERIES HCCS.

HCCS, the Helbling Choral Concert Series, edited by Lorenz Maierhofer, ranks among the most successful choral series in Europe. The repertoire, with a diversity of style and content completely in keeping with the times, already comprises several hundred titles – for mixed choir, male-voice choir and women’s choir. To enable amateur choirs to make a targeted selection of the appropriate level of difficulty from the repertoire, each of the titles has been assigned an indication of its level – from 1 to 5 (1 = very easy / 5 = highly demanding).

"In the course of almost two decades of working together with him in the recording studio on choral recordings and educational projects, I have gained a very special understanding and appreciation of Lorenz Maierhofer: creative, motivating, exhilarating, inspiring, trenchant, funny, generous and loyal, while at the same time impatient, critical and challenging, and, whatever the circumstances, determined, consistent and tenacious. His intense belief in the objectives he sets, and that they can be attained by means of rigorous preparation and constructive collaboration, are in effect a guarantee of success."

Lorenz Maierhofer makes the first recordings of his pieces primarily with one of his four stylistically different vocal ensembles. He works with his team of male and female choral singers, soloists, instrumentalists and speakers in a variety of formations.

"What can I say about the composer Lorenz Maierhofer, who, despite his international successes has remained down-to-earth, true to his roots and honest, whose musical work cuts across all genres, who also composes and arranges three-voice choral pieces with a density of sound that is often not achieved in four-voice choral compositions? The best thing would be to simply be glad that I’ve been able to work together with him superbly for so many years."
